#1: View north-west, we came through these trees along the path

(visited by Yorck Schneider-Kühnle and Sabine Kaus)

01-Apr-2001 -- When we planed to visit our first confluence point 48N 09E was the nearest point still missing on the project. It was only when coming back home that we found out we were a couple of days late. But it was a wonderful day anyway. I tried to get some more maps of the area and it looked quite interesting to me as the point should be somewhere in the forest. The waypoints were set to the GPS and we had a wonderful drive down the Autobahn to Rottweil and then further on via Tuttlingen through some smaller villages ending up in Worndorf. The GPS indicated the point to be about 1km away and we parked the car inside the residential area in a small street just at the edge of the forest.

The weather was sunny and warm giving the first impressions of the coming spring. As it was my first point to go for, I expected it to be somewhere in the middle of trees with about 800m of the total 1km to go through the bushes and woods. But the first directions I got were just all the way along a forest road (unpaved and forbidden for any vehicles but nice to walk). At the next intersection we could just go on along the tracks without any extra tours to reach the point. When we had approached the point to about 200m the woods cleared and we found ourselves on a beautiful meadow. Just like the first visitor reported this confluence point can be reached fairly easy although I am not sure if cars are really supposed to go "within rock throwing distance of confluence N48-E9" or - as I presume - the former visitors were very athletic. Only 49N 08E (located on a parking space) can be reached easier.

After the visit of the confluence point we went down to Fridingen an der Donau, where the Donau is supposed to (partially) vanish in the grounds only to come up about 60 km later in the Blautopf.

After lunch in a local restaurant we drove back via Beuron. I consider this point to be really nice to visit and the possibilities to walk and drive around in the area are really good.
