  52°N 10°E (visit #18)

#1: The confluence of 52° North and 10° East at 400 m in the left part of the green field

(visited by Henk Pouwels)

04-Sep-2013 -- This CP is fourth in a row visited in September 2013: 53N-12E, 53N-11E, 52N-11E, 52N-10E (this one), 52N-09E and 52N-08E.

Travelling westbound from Halbestadt (close to 52N11E) to 52N10E is beautiful. The road leads along the foothills of the Harz. About 7 km east of Vienenburg I crossed for the sixth and last time the former West-East border. After about 15 km I passed the town of Goslar. Via Rhüden, Bornum am Harz and Neuhof I reached Evensen via the K317 and K318. The CP is within 1 km from Evensen. I parked the car at the crossroads, backtracked by foot for 140m, walked 400m along the border of a green field which I had to cross at the end to get to the CP.

Standing at the CP I took a number of photographs which I combined by computer to the panoramic view from North to East, indicated by turquoise lines in the map. Green lines stretching from WestSouthWest to NorthWest indicate another panoramic view. All photographs show the lovely weather and the lovely landscape.

Walking back to my car turning right at the edge of the wood showed me an easier access to the CP. Without the cars forbidden sign at the crossroads I could have driven by car to the CP.

I enjoyed a good picnic at a bench under a tree at the crossroads and continued for 52N-09E.
