  53°N 12°E (visit #12)

#1: The confluence of 53° North and 12° East

(visited by Henk Pouwels)

02-Sep-2013 -- My friend (from the kindergarten, 65 years ago) lives in the neighbourhood of Mölln, 45 km East of Hamburg, Germany. After visiting him I planned a 6 CP trip returning to the Netherlands.

This CP is first in a row visited in September 2013: 53N-12E (this one), 53N-11E, 52N-11E, 52N-10E, 52N-09E and 52N-08E.

Before I left Mölln I had a look around in the old part of this town where Till Eulenspiegel (Owlglass) is said to have died and buried. But heavy rainfall shortened the visit.

The route from Mölln to this CP is easy, 10 km on the B207 and L200 to reach the autobahn A24 (Hamburg-Berlin), follow the A24 for 60 km and turn right into the B106. Pass Ludwigslust, Karstad and Perleberg and turn right after 60 km at Gross Werzin into the L101. A convenient parking place at the CP is found after 2 km.

The CP is at the edge of the road; the rabbit’s hole could be the CP. The North looking view shows my car at the parking meadow. This image is almost identical to the image of visit #6, even the weather is the same, and only the time difference is 5 years.

The South looking image shows what a rainy day it was. At the end of the bend of the road there is a sign to the left for a restaurant in Grubbe, which I followed. The restaurant was closed but I found a nice church. Look at the cushion-shaped white elements detailed to the left. Typical buildings from the time this part of Germany was behind the Iron Curtain are shown. (In my narrative of 52N-11E is more about the Iron Curtain).

My usual collection of plants is collected within 100m of the CP. The vivid hill of the ants was close to my car.

To be continued at 53N-11E.
