10-Jan-2012 -- Back in Germany for a professional meeting scheduled on Jan 11th; the venue was located half way between Munich and Salzburg in Austria and our flight time table left us a half day free on Jan 10th and Jan 12th. We decided to visit 48N 11E and Munich on Jan 10th and 48N 13E and Salzburg on the morning of Jan 12th.
48N 11E is located south west of Munich in the Ammersee area. It is easy to reach in a low hill landscape with plenty of agricultural roads making the approach quick and easy. The 18 fomer visits were all successful and this is the only January visit with no snow on the ground.
In the afternoon we enjoyed our visit of Munich and the historical old town surrounding the “Neues Rathaus” (Picture 7). We also visited the Antiquarium of the Residenz (the former palace of the Bavarian Dukes and Kings). This hall is the biggest Renaissance hall north of the Alps and was built between 1568 and 1571.
