13-Sep-2012 -- - We always combine the development of confluence point with a day hike between 20 - 40 km. The 52 x 12 exceeded its expectations. The "starting city" Zerbst is a testament to a great planned economy. Over the few remnants of the old town that were spared from the war (including a more beautiful protective roland than Bremen has!), A prefabricated housing estate was "out of place" without regard to the old structures. That looks crazy. The next bizarre noticeable feature are dolls, plastic bouquets, and animal figures in the windows. A kind of kitsch cult. Remarkable. In terms of landscape, God has tinkered a small copy of Northern Germany (e.g. Dithmarschen) here. Everything is very flat and even the original Elbe ripples through. And it's hard to believe that there are no wind farms from horizon to horizon. Nature reserve! The early Homo Sapiens Sapiens also appreciated this, which is why he settled in what is now the model village of Gehrden (mainly Prussian long villages) and left behind a large Stone Age grave. Incidentally, a pathetic copy of it is in England (Stonehedge). Otherwise noteworthy were a forest interspersed with dachas, meandering ponds of the Elbe, the "Elbeurstromtalschwelle", Dornburg Castle and the starting point Gommern with its moated castle hotel including its own brewery.

Previous hike was 52 x 11.

The hike was 31.6 km; height difference +198 m, -215 m; max. gradient +8.2 %, -5.5 %. If you like, I send you the route in GPS Exchange Format 1.1. Send (* .gpx).

(*.gpx) zusenden. („pgehre@aol.com“).
