04-May-2002 -- The confluence 38N122W lies near Concord, California, inside the Concord Naval Weapons Station. One of the main roads into Concord, Willow Pass Road, passes through the Naval facility with security fences (see photo #4) on either side. The amusing report of the first visitors, submitted before Selective Availability was turned off, placed the confluence on the shoulder of Willow Pass Road. With the increased accuracy now available I was able to determine the location of the confluence to be about 50 meters inside the security fence south of Willow Pass Road. Photo #1 shows the view through the fence toward the confluence. Photo #2 is looking north across Willow Pass Road toward the Naval facility on the other side. Photo #3 is Willow Pass Road looking east. So with an EPE of 5 meters, I was able to get within 50 meters of the confluence by standing just outside of the security fence (see photo #5 of my GPSR).
