12-Oct-2008 -- INTRO -- We - the team of the Explorer Magazin - wanted to repeat something similar to our former project "Bavarian Equator"

This time it is the "Latitude Tour 48" which leads us along the latitude 48 N westward to the Atlantic ocean and the French coast of the Bretagne. There are two important confluences which can be visited during this tour: The confluence N 48° E 012° is very near to our office in Bavaria and the other one is nearly at the end of the tour: N 48° W 004° is 1,994 km away from the other if you look at the linear distance.

Of course we made a trip that could not follow this line exactly but we have been in the near of this latitude for more than two weeks - until we reached the ocean.

There have been many visitors at N 48° E 012° already - but we visited it in spite of that fact due to our plannings around the "Latitude Tour". As all other visitors we made a picture of the confluence monument of the SPD Assling (Social Democratic Party of Germany) which is nearby the actual confluence.

This time we found a visit report of Jan Liska in the collection of visitors of N 48° E 012°, our friend and author of the Explorer Magazin who has visited so many confluences in Europe. But the other confluence of our latitude tour in France has not been visited by Jan so far - but we will see ..! ;-))
