27-Jun-2004 -- Decidímos que deseamos pasar por lo menos un día de nuestras vacaciones españolas de dos semanas, para ver el campo español. Visitar una confluencia entonces sería una manera buena de alcanzar dos metas. Permanecímos cerca deTorrevieja así que el 39N 1W no era el punto más cercano pero mirando los cuadros y leyendo las descripciones pensamos que éste sería el más interesante. Acercamos al área por la carretera 590 y tomamos una pista en la dirección a la granja que se llama “La Cumbre”. Fuimos bastante afortunados al encuentrar al granjero que era muy cortés y muy paciente con mis habilidades españolas y él nos dijero, que era la mejor ruta al área que señalábamos. Eso nos condujo a un pista forestal que parece ser una pista usada para los viajes de la caza y el mantenimiento de una línea de energía. Condujimos cerca de 6 kilómetros por esta pista que es solamente conveniente para los vehículos todoterreno. Entonces caminamos los 1300m finales. El punto es justo al lado de la pista en un valle pequeño entre dos cantos así que la vista está sobre todo en una dirección. El paisaje es áspero pero muy hermoso y la naturaleza es muy viva con muchos pájaros y toda clase de plantas y de insectos. Aunque era caliente por nuestros estándares (sobre 30 grados) el viaje entero fue una aventura muy agradable.

27-Jun-2004 -- We decided that we wanted to spend at least one day of our two weeks vacation in Spain to see a Spanish countryside. Visiting a confluence would then be a fine way to achieve two goals. We stayed near Torrevieja so 39N 1W was not the closest point but by looking at the pictures and reading the descriptions we thought that this one would be the most interesting. We approached the area by road 590 and took of it in the direction to the farm La Cumbre. We were fortunate enough to meet the farmer who was very polite and patient to my Spanish skills and he told us, which was the best way to the area we were pointing at. That led us to a “Pista Forestal” that seems to be a track used for hunting trips and maintenance of a power line. We drove about 6 km by this track that is only suitable for off-road vehicles. Then we walked the last 1300m. The point itself is just beside the track in a small valley between two ridges so the sight is mostly in one direction. The landscape is rough but very beautiful and the nature is very vivid with a lot of birds and all kinds of plants and insects. Although it was hot by our standards (well over 30 degrees Celsius) the whole trip was a very enjoyable adventure.
