(visited by Dave Atkinson)

22-Jun-2000 -- This beautiful and peaceful confluence is located yards from the Missouri River as it passes through Montana's Big Belt Mountains. Easily accessible from I-15, a few miles drive off the interstate puts one at Holter Lake, a dam on the Missouri River. Here, the slackwater provides a haven for fisherman. As I approached the confluence, I could hear bugs buzzing around me, as a hatch was in progress. Numerous fly fisherman were working the water, and having a good day. The late afternoon sun was low, the temperature was in the low 70's, and the breeze was slight: an absolutely perfect day. This confluence was about 75 yards from the riverbank, in a grazing area between the river and the paved road. Definitely worth visiting again, but next time with my fly rod.
