17-Aug-2026 -- Almost 3 years have passed since we last visited a new confluence point. This year both myself and Dawn turned 50 and our eldest Daughter is turning 16 this year too so a BIG family holiday to Sri Lanka was our special present to ourselves to mark the occasion!

Having landed in Columbo the previous evening, this was our first 'destination' of our 2-week adventure which would see us 'bagging' a further 2 more CP's (7N 81E & 8N 81E). We had hired a very small 'Suzuki Wagon R' Car for the 2 weeks to get about (driving in Sri Lanka was an adventure in itself!!) and it took just under an hour to get to the CP from Negombo.

Since the last visit in 2007 the road to the private property where the CP is located is now tarmac. Nobody was at home, but a lady tending to her adjacent garden (by the Mini in the photo) gave us permission to enter. Although I'm not sure how much she understood what we were doing there despite my best charades based explainations! We quickly took the photos, jumped back in the car and continued on to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage thanking the lady on the way out. Mission 1 Complete!
