30-Aug-2025 -- On a trip to and through Southern England, I was able to visit ten confluence points along the 51th parallel. The first visit took place at 51°N 6°E.
On our way west, still in Germany, we reached the town of Gangelt, with the often visited confluence point 51°N 6°E in the north. We parked the car at the big official parking place in the northern city, around 600 m south of the CP, and walked north along the Lindenstraße until we reached a very interesting place. Here you will find a large information sign explaining the achievements of Mr. Mercator and a Monument with cities located on the same Meridian (6 east). From there it was only a 200 m walk on paved ways to the exact location. The confluence point is located on a small horse paddock. During my visit, there were no horses to be seen there, not even in the nearby stables (see view to the east). So I was able to walk to my special point in a relaxed manner. At confluence 51°N 6°E I could take the needed pictures under best weather conditions.
Happy about my first and quick visit of a confluence point during this holidays, we walked back to the car and set off further direction west.
