06-Jun-2010 -- The hire car was due back at 20:00, I finished my Radio Orienteering (Zloty Potok - very nice area) by 14:00 - so with time to kill - out came the GPS - and yes - a confluence not 40 minutes drive away. No chance to research on the internet - but as it was a nice sunny day I took a gamble and started to drive. As usual Mr Garmin and I disagree over what is a motor-able road and I bottled out a km south of the target.

Pleasant, if hot, walk along sandy tracks, no buildings near - good - this might be a successful one and there was the confluence was off to the left in some open forest - mostly pine and birch with enough light let in to support luxuriant and deep grass on the forest floor.

As I reached the point and stood waiting for the zeros it became clear that I had forgotten 4 things...

A hat

Sunblock

Insect repellent (!!!!)

and

A compass

So I quickly used my watch to estimate the direction of North, snapped my photos and headed back to the road - after 10 metres coming across a tree with a BIG BLUE ARROW on it. So certainly someone has been here before!
