1st confluence out of a trip of 2

I was invited to attend an automotive conference in Berlin what gave me a perfect opportunity to visit two confluence points in Brandenburg that were “almost” en-route. I departed from Poznań early in the morning to have enough time and daylight for a visit during a short December day. The weather in Poland was quite nice – sunny, cloudless sky and not too cold – +6 ˚C. But as soon as I crossed the German border over the Odra River heavy, dark clouds set in and it started snowing. Soon we had a real blizzard on the motorway. I pulled over to wait until the strongest wind dropped and after a short rest I continued along the Berliner Ring (Berlin Beltway) to the north-west.

Near Neuruppin I left the A24 motorway and I went on local roads via Kyritz to Groß Werzin. There I turned to the south and after 2 km I came to a little village of Grube. While approaching the village the GPS showed a minimal distance to the CP of 20 m, so the point could have been considered visited. Of course, I wanted to find the exact spot, but the weather was really discouraging. It became chilly cold and it was snowing all the time. The temperature was around 0 ˚C and snow was melting almost immediately making all my clothes wet.

I parked the car near a single house at Dorfstraße No. 2 and walked up one hundred meters to the confluence. The GPS accuracy was quite poor – 10 m at best – but I found the point in the same place where the previous visitors did – in a shallow ditch on the verge of the road. Snowflakes fell on the lens of my camera so some pictures are a bit blurred.

I took a look at the nearby cemetery and with big relief returned to the warm interior of the car. After warming up with a mug of hot tea I headed for Berlin. My optional plan was to visit 53N 13E on the way (from Neuruppin it was only 20 km away) but it was still snowing and it got dark so I postponed the visit until another day.

Zaparkowałem samochód w pobliżu samotnego domu przy Dorfstraße No. 2 i podszedłem sto metrów do przecięcia.

Podszedłem jeszcze do pobliskiego cmentarzyka i z dużą ulgą wróciłem do ciepłego wnętrza samochodu.
