09-Jul-2005 -- Am 9. 7. 2005 habe ich meinen dritten Confluence-Punkt aufgesucht, zusammen mit meinem Vater und meiner Oma.

Der Punkt befindet sich am nördlichen Ausgang des Dorfes Grube in der Nähe des Dorffriedhofs direkt an der Straße. Am Eingang des Friedhofs, 100 m nördlich der Confluence, besteht eine Parkmöglichkeit.

Im Gegensatz zu unseren beiden Vorgängern lokalisierten wir den Punkt 25 m südliches des Baums (auf vielen Bildern sichtbar) und 2 m neben der Straße. Ich habe meinen Messpunkt mit einer topografischen Karte und einer kalibrierten Luftbildkarte verglichen und festgestellt, dass meine Messung auf 2 Meter genau sein müsste. Der Baum an der Confluence, welcher auf den Bildern von 2001 und 2002 zu sehen ist, wurde mittlerweile gefällt. Die Koordinaten der früheren Besucher waren also korrekt.

Vielleicht ist die Genauigkeit der alten GPS-Geräte geringer. Die Messung habe ich mit einem Garmin Etrex Legend, WGS84-Kartendatum und Differential-GPS (EGNOS-Satelliten sind seit 5 Wochen online) bei 4 Meter Genauigkeit durchgeführt.

100 Meter südlich der Confluence befindet sich ein Haus welches jetzt umzäunt ist. Auf den Fotos unserer Vorgänger ist noch kein Zaun zu sehen. Ein Anwohner schaute uns interessiert über den Zaun zu, was wir da wohl anstellten. Wahrscheinlich haben die Dörfler dort keine Ahnung von der Confluence. ;-) Möglicherweise ist die Wiese neben der Straße auch ein Privatgrundstück (Hinweise für folgende Besucher!). Der Punkt ist aber definitv noch nicht auf der Wiese.

09-Jul-2005 -- Today I visited my third Confluence Point together with my father and my grandma.

The confluence is located at the north side of a little village called Grube near of the village cemetery directly on the street. You can park your car at the entrance of the cemetery 100 meters north of the confluence.

In contrary to our predecessors we localized the point 25 meters south of the tree (seen on many pictures) and 2 meters east of the street. I compared my measurement with a topografic map and a calibrated air photo with an accuracy of 2 meters. The tree on the confluence, as seen on the 2001 and 2002 pictures, was chopped down. The coordinates of the previous visitors were correct!

May be the old GPS devices are not so precisely. I performed the measurement with a Garmin eTrex Legend, WGS84 map date and Differential GPS with an accuracy of 4 meters . The WAAS satellites for Europe are online since 5 weeks.

100 meters south of the confluence is a small house which is surrounded by a fence. On the photos of 2001 and 2002 is no fence visible. An inhabitant watched over the fence and looked a bit confused what we are doing there. May be the Hillbillies of the village have no idea about the confluence. ;-)

Possible the meadow on the street is private property (information for later visitors!).
