#1: The Spot

(visited by Stephan Theriault)

02-Feb-2007 -- We all got up and left our camp site north of Gloucester bright and early. It truly was a lovely area amongst the hills but we had a long day ahead and went for three confluences in one day, something I had never done before.

The first one was pretty close to where we camped. A quarter of an hour's drive took us passed Gloucester and there it was less than 200 metres from the road. I walked there and back and in less than 10 minutes it was all over.

Still, it was enough time for the landowner to show up. Since it was early in the morning and so close to the road I didn't want to go and knock at his door and risk waking him up just to ask if I could walk in his field for a few minutes. It turned out that he was a very nice gentleman named Kevin Burley. There's a creek named burley creek just down the road. He has been in the area all his life he said. He has a hundred or so heads of breeders (cattle) on more than a thousand acres. The views on his property are quite nice with a large rocky formation called mount Mograni. We had a lovely chat with Kevin who even pumped up my rear tyres that was a bit flat. A much needed help for the many kilometres that would next take us to 32S 151E
