06-Sep-2014 -- We always combine the development of confluence points with a day hike of between 20 and 40 km. The 50 x 12 was successfully developed in the Fichtelgebirge. The mountain range of the Fichtelgebirge consists primarily of granite. The East Franconians, the Bavarians and the Upper Palatinate border on this low mountain range. This is still reflected in the different dialects today. Historically, ore was mined, but always in the shadow of the Ore Mountains. Glass and porcelain production has survived on a grand scale. It is no longer so unmistakably Bavarian as in Bamberg (50 x 11). It is more reminiscent of Tschechin or the Ore Mountains. Numerous 1970s building mistakes. There are numerous granite rocks in the forest. There were so many mushrooms to admire! My heartfelt thanks to all “participants” and especially to those who gritted their teeth without complaining.

Previous hike was 50 x 11.

The hike was 28.1 km; height difference +1116 m, -898 m; max. gradient +30.3 %, -26.2 %. If you like, I send you the route in GPS Exchange Format 1.1. Send (* .gpx).

(*.gpx) zusenden. („pgehre@aol.com“).
