(visited by Thomas Barthel)

06-Feb-2012 -- On the way to a winter sports holiday at the ‘Bayrischer Wald’, the possibility of a CP visit at the ‘Fichtelgebirge’ arose.

Just eight kilometres in a straight line from the autobahn A93 this CP is located. So I took the exit no.13 ‘Marktredwitz’ and later road 303, direction east, until I turned onto a smaller road, named ‘Luisenburgstraße’. While following this road about 900 meters southwards I found a good parking place near the Hotel ‘Waldlust’.

Now it was to go for a little walk.

The GPS showed still 2.2 km way (not beeline) on unpaved ground. It is forbidden to drive these logger tracks and hiking trails respectively. You can see the signs of the well marked hiking trails on picture ‘08 junction to the right..’. It was a very beautiful walk to the Confluence Point. The sun was shining while it was minus 18°C.

Well, at the mentioned junction the track no. 6 to ‘Burgstein’ showed into the correct direction (WNW) and it was just another 110 meters to go. Quite fast and slow uphill the magic location was reached around noon. The location of the CP from a distance of about 50 meters. It is situated behind the group of trees in the middle of the photo. A root bale of a fallen tree lays direct at the CP, which is to find around five meters next to the way. The GPS showed a quite good accuracy of three meters.

This Confluence Point was easy to reach but it was my coldest visit up to now. The way back to the car was done fast and the holiday could start now.
