17-Jul-2004 -- About 9 in the morning of July 17th we left from Castanhal in the Northeast of Pará State to attempt a visit to the above confluence.
There were four members in the group (Jonh Marcelo, Maria de Fatima, Renato, and myself) that made the first leg of the journey on an excellent asphalt highway until the small town of Terra Alta, about 28 quilometers north of Castanhal.
We then followed the GPS readings over several gravel and dirt roads until we reached a point where we could leave the car about 750 meters from the confluence.
We stopped at a small farm to enlist the help of the owner (Paulo), and went by foot through some local manioc plantings in a northward direction until we reached a point about 75 meters from the site.
We then turned east through some fairly dense secondary growth forest, arriving at the site about noon.
