English version

Deutsch

English version

17-May-2004 -- In May and June of 2004, Carlo Albrecht and I were away with motorbikes in Turkey. We spent a couple of days in Cappadocia and visited this Confluence, about 40 km north of the tourist centre of Cappadocia in Göreme.

The point is easy to reach, at first via a small road going to Paşalı. Via a rural road, we could approach the point quite closely, being in the middle of a barley field. This part of the Anatolian Plateau is intensively used for agriculture, mainly for grain cultivation. The point lies at about 1151 m asl. To the West, the village Paşalı is visible, and to the South, Çallıgedik.

The nearby Cappadocia is probably the third best-known tourist destination of Turkey, after the Mediterranean coast and Istanbul. The characteristic tuff landscapes with their rich history over- as well as underground can be found over many kilometres. During good weather, the nearly 4000 m high volcano Erciyes Dağı, which formed this landscape, can be seen east of Göreme. (GK)
