English version

20-May-2004 -- Continued from 39N 35E.

This point is situated not far from the through road Gaziantep-Malatya and close to the junction with a nice little country road going to Çelikhan through rather sparsely populated highland, about 25 m beside the road in a small grain field at about 1340 m asl. We were rather unsure whether this point could be reached without much labour, because the through road, following the mountains and rivers, adapted itself fairly winding to the landscape. Being sparsely endowed with topological information, our map material (1:750,000) promised a certain potential of surprise, anyway ;-) So much the bigger was our joy about a trouble-free arrival.

The other photos give a small impression of the surrounding region, whose valleys are characterised by partly irrigated grain cultivation, and the barrenness of the mountains being used as pastures. Hence, one encounters here quite frequently mixed sheep and goat herds, and sometimes the herding dogs, which don't always give a very friendly impression ;-) (GK)
