08-Apr-2004 -- We left Punto Fijo and start our driving back to Cabimas and in the way we plan to take a small detour of about 30 km toward Casigua town to visitid CP N11 W71 that it is located near by (close to 3 km). We used the same road that we used in the morning, and because of day time we could enjoy the land scape and of the flowered Aragüaney trees, that in this seasons are full with they beautiful yellows flowers. The Aragüaney is the national tree in Venezuela.

We analised the digital map thats its loaded on the GPS, and show two roads to access Casigua from the main road interstate Falcon-Zulia. Due to the hour and because we were tired we try first the paved one, even if it looks longer than the other. After several kilometers, the road become a nightmare, in very bad condition that force us to reduces drastically our driving speed. In cases like these I prefered the dirty roads instead of bad condition paved roads. Suddenlly a road appears in from of us that I maybe could drive us to the second road to Casigua that for could be in a better condition than the one that we were using. We took that new road not showed in our GPS, but no way at the ends we finally arrive once again to the original bad condition paved road.

Just before arriving Casigua, our GPS showed the CP at aboud 2.5 km from the road but without any access rod to reach. We continue to Casigua to explore the region and identify if there is any access from there that put us closer to CP, but we did not have any success, so we decide return to the road again and from there drive cross country the arid planes to arrive CP. Our Land Cruiser took us almost up to CP at only 25 mt. Close enough, to do the habitual confluence dance, and after that we took the adecuates pictures almosts at sunset. Accordinly to GPS, CP it is located at an altitude of 11 mt above the sea level.

This area it is practically a desert without rain and vegetation at all, as it is shown in the pictures. The soil looks like clay full of cracks that puts in evidence the lacks of rain.

We were tired to death, but really satisfied for the successfull hunting activity of the day. We arrived to Cabimas at 9:00 pm after drive more than 900 km, took a shower, had dinner and rested for tomorrows hunting activity (The adventure continues on CP N10 W70)
