(visited by Thomas Barthel)

28-Jul-2014 -- Three confluence points are located on the island of Sardinia, which is associated to Italy. During the summer holidays I took the chance to visit all of it. My second visit on the island took place at the center of Sardinia. The visited CP 40N 9E is located in the province Nuoro, near the village Ortueri, which is located about 4 km NNW of the CP.

The road SS388 leads through Ortueri. Heading south we took a smaller road, which passes an industrial area, and reached the area of the CP after 3.3 km. The car could be parked directly in front of the approach to the CP area. This area looks like pampa.

I had to step over an old fence, which was loaded with a lot of old plants and which was already trampled down. I walked along small paths through the brushwood (called macchia on Corsica) and after about 80 m I stood at the confluence.

This time I had a very good GPS reception so that the gadget shows an accuracy of only two meters. On the way back, already at the car, a pickup stopped and an elder farmer asked if everything is fine or if we need help. I said that everything is fine and this friendly man gave us cucumber and zucchini. He didn't want paid and wished us a pleasant further journey. Very interesting were the cork trees - cork oaks. Some of it had been harvested a short time ago, which was easy to see clearly by the thinner and red brown coloured trunks.

Well fixed with vegetables this confluence visited ended on a sunny morning. A little further away (22 km), we visited the bronze aged "Nurhage" near Losa, it was very interesting. The huge and impressive building was the centre of the former settlement, used in different ages. A fewdays later the visit of the third confluence of Sardinia, CP 41N 9E, stood on the itinerary.
