28-Mar-2013 -- A MIRACULOUS CONFLUENCE

Although the straight distance from the previous confluence was only 150 km, the geography and the transit delayed us a lot: the Huaco slope, the beltway around La Rioja city and the zigzagging routes demanded us almost three and half hours to approach. We arrived at the confluence practically at night.

A vicinal road left us at only 50 meters of the confluence, which is inside of an old bricks factory belonging to Mr. Herminio Arias, according to what I remembered from the reading of the previous visits.

Hurried, due to the little sunlight for the pictures, I omitted the normal procedure of asking permission to enter in a private property and I went straight line to register the capture.

Not without difficulties, I was able to take the pictures on the same stack of bricks of ten years ago and I returned to the car, where Matías was waiting for me.

While we accommodated the stuff in the car I noted that behind me, someone appeared nervously, with the clear intention to know what was happening there.

I almost remembered the vague picture posted by Eduardo Cinicola and his partners together with the Arias family but it was enough to face this person, previous shake the hands, saying: “I know you from a picture of ten years ago”. I hit: he was Herminio Arias, who immediately remembered the old and odd earlier visit and then he forgot the “invasion”.

We spent a lot of time talking to Mr. Arias about his life and curiosities of this place. He recommended visiting the railway station of his town because we would get a surprise with the impressive building.

After taking a picture with him, we left him and we went to the town named Milagro to look for place to lodge and to see the railway station.

We could appreciate the railway station, really a marvelous building, but we couldn´t find accommodation to sleep there.

We continued our trip to the south and finally we stopped at Ulapes town, very near to the next confluence, the 32°S 66°W.
