23-May-2008 -- Continued from 47°N 12°E

My plans were to stay near 47°N 12°E, but it was too wet for camping. So I decided to got more to the south in the vicinity of 46°N 12°E. My world class and trusty navigation system led me through the stunning scenery of the Dolomites to the small village of Stábie. I parked my car near the church 1.37km beeline to the point. There is a hiking map mounted near the church, which helped a lot because I had only some Google Maps printouts with me where some trails are missing or incomplete.

I followed the tarred (later: concrete) way marked by two horses. At one point (46°00.04'N, 011°59.87'E) the way forks and one has to take the northern branch. I permanently checked on crossings, which branch to take until the distance increased. So I took a small track, walked across a meadow and cross country through the woods down a slope. I finally saw a way where the point is located (I knew from the other reports that the CP is near a way, but on which one ...). Later it turned out that I should have left the concrete way where a signpost directs to Casere Tieppo. Yeah that's the joy of confluence hunting!!

The way back was easy, because it went all way down. After about two hours I was back at my car. By the way: I did not see any signs, which prohibits the usage of cars or motorcycles. But the way is narrow and I would not recommend driving to the point with a car.

After two successful confluence points today I pitched up my tent at the beautiful lake of Corlo.

Continued at 45°N 12°E.
