#1: The spot

(visited by Stephan Theriault and Darcy Theriault)

17-Dec-2006 -- continued from 23S 148E

On a beautiful Sunday morning, my daughter Darcy and myself set out to conquer yet another confluence. Looking up at the clear sky, it was hard to believe that we had had a storm the previous night in Theodore where we were camping. We only had to drive about ten minutes to an unlocked gate and drive a bit closer to the point before going on foot.

We were about 1.3 kilometre from the spot and there was no sign of human life but plenty of cows and their calves. It's definitely calving season. We got there without any problem, it's in an overgrown paddock. We also saw a family of grey-crowned Babblers.

Darcy did a fabulous job at navigating back to the car. We saw the dry shell of a tortoise who didn't make it back to its waterhole. It is very dry in this part of the country. Not too dry to keep us from looking for our next confluence: 26S 150E
