(visited by Alison Drummer and Emanuel Stefan)

29-Aug-2006 -- As WG crew 1715 was working near by, we decided to check out 29N 26E. Our country manager Dave Morrison (also known as the confluence champion) was threatening to visit, so we thought we had better get the point in first.

Cup of tea in the spill-proof mug and some music (all desert essentials), we set off on our trip. Garmin read a mere 15 km from our base camp location.

Off we headed, the route was easy to follow as we rolled over smooth sand dunes, following in the tracks of the surveyors heading to the sesimic line close by. About 3 km we veered off the well-worn desert tracks, nearing the point we rounded the dune to find a plastic bottle right where we were heading! Sure enough as we got to the site, we found the point had been visted already.

We opened the bottle to find a note from Rick Gelderblom and his team, see photo. They had visited on 8 January 2006 but never entered into the site - so full credit should go to them for being there first. We took the photos and then returned to camp - tea still warm, the whole trip from start to finish took us an hour and a half!
