#1: Looking North onto the Confluence Point

(visited by Gordon Smith and David Chambers)

24-Apr-2006 -- After a night camping in the dunes overlooking 19N 53E, we set off south through the sabkha pans with relative easy sand driving to join the track back to Šisr for refuelling and then heading off to 18N 53E, which is located in a beautiful area known as Wādiy `Aydim, just north of Qafā.

The terrain was mixed here, however the actual confluence point is on a nice flat area, much to our relief after some interesting rock crawling in our Land Rover Discoverys.

We returned to Šisr to camp and had a brief look at what remains of the Lost City of Ubar, before heading north to Masqaṭ and a hotel bed for the night prior to our final drive back to Dubayy, having covered 3,394 km over the whole trip.
