12-Jun-2003 -- Wir fuhren mit dem Seegelboot rund um Sizilien - von El Kantaoui Tunesien nach Catania Sizilien, von da aus machten wir einen Besuch des Ätna. Der Vulkan war gerade sehr aktiv und die Straße durch Lavaströme verlegt.

Am nächsten Tag segelten wir weiter nach Giardini. Früh am morgen war Tagwache und weiter gings durch die Strasse von Messina nach Vulcano. (Fussmarsch auf Vulcano) Wir machten einen Turn nach Salina, von dort ging es nach Palermo. Nächster Punkt war Capo San Vito, nacher ging es zu den Ägadischen Inseln in die südliche Bucht von Levanza und weiter nach Favignana. Danach ging es wieder zurück nach Pantelleria und jetzt machten wir den Punkt.

Das Wetter war gut, gelegentlich etwas Nebel, wir mußten sogar auf dem Wasser den Confluencetanz aufführen, um die richtigen Zahlen auf dem GPS zu bekommen. Unsere Versuche wurden durch einen großen Containerfrachter beendet, der seine Kurs genau über unseren Punkt gelegt hatte. Der Klügere gibt nach, und wir räumten das Feld. Danach besuchten wir Pantelleria , wieder eine Inseltour mit Mietwagen, von dort ging es auf direktem Weg nach El Kantaoui.

12-Jun-2003 -- We made a voyage with a sailingboat around Sicily – from El Kantaoui Tunesia to Catania Sicily, from there we visited the volcano Etna. The vulcano was very active at that time and the road was buried under lava.

The next day we sailed on to Giardini. Very early in the morning we got up and sailed through the Street of Messina to the Isle of Vulcano. We made a turn to Salina and then to Palermo. The next point was Capo San Vito, from there we went on to the Aegadian islands into the Bay of Levanza and then further to Favignana. From there we sailed to Pantelleria. Here we made the point.

The weather was fine, sometimes a little misty, and to get the correct numbers on the GPS we had to perform the confluence dance on the water. We had to stop our tries because a big container ship crossed our position and so we decided to move out of his way. We visited the isle of Pantelleria and again made a tour through the island with a rented car. From Pantelleria our last leg was directly to El Kantaoui.
