#1: View to the north

(visited by Ray Harris)

09-Jun-2004 -- We were conducting a "Campfire Escapes" expedition through the Great Victoria Desert between 28th May 2004 and 11th June 2004. We had 19 people and a total of 12 vehicles. The whole area had recieved heavy rains in the weeks leading up to the expedition. This caused many roads to be closed, however our expedition was to be across country (no roads or tracks). We got "bogged in" for 4 days and found a cave which the 19 of us "lived" in until we were able to move on. Our planned course was changed, as it had to be due to the conditions, but we were determined not to miss this confluence. On the 9th June 2004 we made it. The photographs show the views north, south, east and west along with our expedition team, the trio of GPSs and X marks the spot.

Expedition members were:
Ray Harris
Nick Underwood
Ian Elliot & James Charlwood
Debbie Duncan
Bernie Healey
Terry Bentley
John Tucker
Shaun Nolan
Daniel Zimmerli
Russell Craig
Geoff & Sue Lenane
Bob Armstrong & Lesley Avery
Evelyn & Graeme Harris
Graham & Min Taylor
