14-Dec-2003 -- In the rainy sunday morning we have gone on searches of new confluence.

We left Kiev by automobile and went along the Kiev water basin to the north up to village Dymer. Then turned northwest in the direction of village Ivankov. From Ivankov have passed 6 more kms up to small village Pirogovichi (300 inhabitants). From Pirogovichi have passed 300 more meters to a pine grove, to go further was impossible, as a tumbled down tree laid on the road. Have passed on foot 300 more meters, have turned to the east and through 15 meters the confluence have reached. Through 10 kms in northern direction the Chernobyl zone of alienation begins.

Attention: This Confluence is only 13 km south of the Zone of Alienation which is defined by a 30-km radius around the nuclear power plant of Chornobyl'. In December 1989 the area around the Confluence had a radioactive surface contamination from Caesium-137 of 37-185 kBq/m², the half-life of Cs-137 being 30 years. Thus the time of stay in this area should be kept as short as possible and appropriate measures should be taken by the visitors to protect themselves against any radioactive contamination.
