#1: The view north while standing on the confluence

(visited by Doug Walker)

30-Mar-2002 -- Our family visited this confluence on the Easter long weekend of 2002. When we got up in the morning, it was snowing and visibility was very limited. We weren't sure we would be able to get any pictures, but we decided to make the trip anyway. By the time we left the Calgary city limits, the sun had come out and the day was beautiful and warm (for March).

The route to this confluence was not difficult. We took the Trans-Canada Highway east bound from Calgary until it hooked up with route 591, 20Km east of Strathmore. We followed this road east for 4.5Km until the GPS read that our waypoint was directly south of us. We found a gravel road that headed south so we followed that until we got to within 400m of the confluence.

We parked the car, and walked the remaining distance through a couple of inches of fresh snow. We were within 60m of our goal when a small stream blocked our progress. After a little diversion, we found our way across and located the confluence on top of a small rise. As you can see from the photos, we were able to see for miles in every direction.
