Aproveitamos o seminário XVI SNPTEE, em Campinas - no interior do Estado de São Paulo, e o final de semana para visitarmos a confluência 23 S 47 W. Na sexta, 26 de outubro, tomamos um ônibus de Campinas à Vinhedo e verificamos que o ponto mais próximo da estrada fica a 1,13 quilômetros da confluência. Estávamos prontos para nossa terceira aventura (veja a primeira visita na confluência 22 S 41 W no Cabo de São Tomé, e a segunda visita na confluência 22 S 42 W em Santa Maria Madalena)

Após um sábado de diversão no Wet'n Wild e Hopi Hari, saímos no domingo às 9:00 e chegamos às 9:40 à meio caminho entre Valinhos e Vinhedo. Subimos uma rua asfaltada exatamente na direção da confluência. Atravessamos um terreno em obras para outra rua e entramos em uma plantação de figos um tanto acinzentadas, pelo agrotóxico, acreditamos. Nossa entrada não foi impedida, pois era domingo e não havia pessoas trabalhando. Cruzamos a plantação, atravessamos a cerca de arame farpado e através de um terreno cheio de lenha. Depois, mais outra plantação de figos e chegamos a uma casa que parecia uma colônia de férias, de onde tiramos a foto #1, que mostra a plantação de figos e as árvores que estavam sendo cortadas. Um detalhe interessante: o caminho quase todo em linha reta em relação à leitura do GPS.

A confluência fica em um terreno desabitado, que parecia ter passado por uma "queimada" recente (queimada é um procedimento muito utilizado na agricultura brasileira que os ambientalistas se esforçam por eliminar), mas ainda havia uma árvore onde pudemos colocar a placa.

Tiramos as fotos e um senhor nos indicou um caminho que nos levaria à estrada sem necessitarmos de cruzar as cercas uma vez mais, todavia descobrimos mais adiante que estávamos dentro de uma empresa de fertilizantes e saímos pelo portão da empresa.

Ficou comprovado mais uma vez que "a volta sempre é mais fácil". Mas desta vez nem a jornada de ida apresentou problemas. Marcamos os pontos para que qualquer pessoa possa chegar a confluência e encontrar a nossa placa (cada placa custa R$ 22,00 ou US$ 8.15).

O caminho é muito fácil, basta configurar o GPS: S 22 59' 47.8'' / W 46 59' 23.0'' - ainda na estrada, em frente à rua asfaltada; Vire a esquerda até chegar em um terreno que permita a passagem para a direção correta; Siga pela estrada até o portão da empresa de fertilizantes em S 22 59' 50.3'' / W 46 59' 52.8''; Caso você obtenha permissão para entrar, melhor, é uma estrada que leva direto à confluência; Caso não obtenha permissão, então vá pelo caminho de terra ao lado direito até a "colônia de férias"; Solicite a permissão para atravessar a cerca e pronto... mais uns 20 metros e você estará lá.

We took advantage of the XVI SNPTEE seminar, in Campinas - city in countryside of the State of São Paulo -, and planed for a weekend visit to the confluence 23 S 47 W. On Friday, October 26, we took a bus from Campinas to Vinhedo and we verified that the closest point from the highway to the confluence is 1.13 kilometers away. We were ready for our third adventure (see our first visit in confluence 22 S 41 W, Cape of São Tomé, and second visit in confluence 22 S 42 W, Santa Maria Madalena).

After a Saturday of fun at Wet 'n Wild and Hopi Hari, we left on Sunday at 9:00 AM and arrived at 9:40 AM to a place halfway between Valinhos and Vinhedo (Valinhos means Small Valleys in Portuguese). We went up an asphalted street exactly in the direction of the confluence. We crossed a land in works to another street and we entered in a plantation of figs colored grayish, due to agricultural insecticide, we believe.

Our entrance was not impeded, because it was Sunday and there were no people working. We crossed the plantation, we passed across barbed wire and through a land full of firewood. Then, one more plantation of figs and we arrived to a house that seemed to be a vacation camp, from where we shoot photo #1, that shows the plantation of figs and the trees that were being cut.

An interesting detail: all the way almost completely in a straight line in relation to the GPS reading.

The confluence is in an unocuppied land, that seemed to have gone by a "queimada" recently ("queimada" - that means "burning" - is a procedure very used in the Brazilian agriculture, the environmentalists make a strong effort to eliminate this archaic procedure), but there was still a tree where we could place the plate on.

We took the pictures and a gentleman indicated us a way that would take us to the highway without we need to cross the fences once again, though we found out further on that we were in a of fertilizers company land and we left across the gate of this company.

It was once again proven that "the way back is always easier". But at this time even the going journey was successful. We marked the points so that any person can arrive to the confluence and find our plate (each plate costs R$ 22,00 or US$ 8.15).

The way is very easy, you just have to configure the GPS: S 22 59 ' 47.8 '' / W 46 59 ' 23.0 '' - still in the highway, in front to the asphalted street; Turn left until reach to a land that allows the passage to the correct direction; Proceed by the road until the gate of the fertilizers company in S 22 59' 50.3'' / W 46 59' 52.8''; If you obtain permission to enter, better, it is a road that takes direct to the confluence; If no permission was granted, then go by the land road at the right side until the "vacation camp"; Request the permission to cross the fence and ready... 20 meters more and you will be there.
