26-Oct-2001 -- Classic Oregon high desert backcountry. The area is known as Twelvemile Table. It's flat and dusty rangeland with BIG sky. I saw antelope, pheasant, coyote and, of course, cattle.

I went in at Hwy 20, milepost 74.5. After nearly 50 miles of graded gravel and about 9 miles of rocky, unmaintained double-track, I was within 0.05 mi of the confluence. Left a geocache in an ammo box sitting on the ground (see www.geocaching.com).
