#1: looking north from the confluence point

(visited by David Mower)

14-Sep-2001 -- I visited this confluence on September 14, 2001 while driving cross-country from Buffalo, NY to my home in Utah. I had been stranded in Buffalo when my flight home was cancelled due to the tragedy of September 11, 2001. I decided to rent a car and drive.

The spot is in the middle of a corn field. I stopped at the owners' home and received permission to go on the land. It had been raining. I soon found myself in tall grass and was wet to my knees. Then I was in the corn travelling across the rows of mature plants, a difficult and time-consuming process.

After finding the spot, I decided to return by a different route. I travelled directly down one of the rows until I came to a road and then followed it back to my point of beginning. Not only was I wet and muddy to my knees but also to my waist from the rain that fell while walking on the road. Wow, what a trip!
