08-Sep-2001 -- After reaching our first degree confluence of the day my wife and I headed west for number two. We were hoping the dirt road would turn into paved road. After about 6 miles we stopped in the middle of the road and started checking for possible routes to a paved highway on the MetroGuide map I had loaded up on Garmin.

We were about to turn back to the main highway when a truck pulled up and a guy got out who asked if I needed any help. I told him I was looking for a paved highway that would take us straight west and he asked me where I was going. When I told him I had just come from and was looking for another Long/Lat crossing he gave me a puzzled "What for?". So I gave it my best "Because it's there..." I think he was laughing WITH me as he directed me 2 miles west, 5 miles south to pavement.

An hour later we were heading southwest out of Liberal, Kansas on route 54. Just past the Oklahoma border was a roadside picnic area that was about ½ mile southeast of the confluence. It appeared to be another unused field of brush like Confluence N37 W100 except the brush was much thicker. It was very windy and getting chilly and Rose had on shorts so I hiked out to the confluence alone, snapped a few pictures and returned.
