30-Sep-2000 -- Mike and I had gotten married in July, but were only
able to go on our honeymoon 3 months later. We were heading for Virginia Beach from
Washington, DC, and this confluence was only one hour out of the way, so we (or should I
say I?) decided to go! It was also a good excuse to use the GPS receiver I had just
received for my birthday a couple of weeks earlier.
The drive over there was interesting. This was a part of the country I had never seen.
We were really in the boondocks. Fields of cotton and peanuts surrounded us, as well as
some beautiful brick houses.
We drove up a driveway to the house that seemed to be the closest to the confluence.
Luckily, we caught the lady living there right before leaving for work, and were able to take
a couple of pictures of our surroundings (while she was watching us, thinking we wanted
to steal her land!). After taking a couple of pictures from that location (which is where I took
the picture of the GPS receiver), we drove to another house which was about as far from
the confluence as the other house, and took a couple of pictures there as well.
