(visited by Ross Finlayson)

07-Jun-2026 -- Another ‘forgotten’ Degree Confluence Point - last visited (just once) 25 years ago, in 2001. (16-year-old Ryan, who accompanied H. Marc Lewis on his visit, will now be 41!)

From Spokane, I drove westward to the town of Reardan, then north - past Little Falls Dam - to the Indian settlement of Wellpinit. Then north to a gravel road (Drum Road), then finally north-westward on a primitive dirt road (Bottle Ridge Road). This dirt road became increasingly sketchy as I drove along it, so I eventually parked at a junction at [47.99290,-117.98647], 0.8 miles from the point. I then hiked along a path that ended up passing just 400 feet south of the point. However, to reach the point, I then had to hike down to a small creek (Cottonwood Creek), cross the creek, then hike back out of it. The Degree Confluence Point lies in a stand of trees, just North of the creek. Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.

Returning to my car, i found another path - starting just to the Northeast of the point. This path, however, was strewn with downed trees, so was quite difficult to traverse.
