#1: Facing North

(visited by Karl Cox and Bryce Olson)

04-Apr-2026 -- I have been looking at getting to this site for about 15 years (when I completed a couple of other confluences to the south).

This trip took 3 days in total and about 350km of snowmobiling. We overnighted in a camp at Tsu Lake and then did a day trip up to the confluence and explored some other lakes in the area. It was a bit of work to get into the small lake with the confluence but the recent forest fire and the wide track and superwide track Skandic snowmobiles allowed us to get right to the site. We saw a fair bit of muskox sign nearby but no muskox. Also saw lots of moose sign and some bison sign in our travels. Overnight temperatures were about -20°C but daytime temperatures were approaching freezing (thawing?). The biggest issue of the trip was loosing a burrito down under the exhaust/engine when trying to warm up my lunch. It was recovered with only minor burns. A great way to spend 3 days!
