(visited by Ross Finlayson)

05-Apr-2026 -- After a short mountain biking vacation in Phoenix, I drove eastward along US highway 60 through the small towns of Superior and Globe, and then northeast towards the town of Show Low. As the previous visitor (Shawn Fleming, almost 10 years ago) noted, you need to buy a Daily Vehicle Recreation Permit from the Fort Apache Indian Reservation to visit this point. This permit can be bought from one of the stores listed here. (That web site also contains a portal for buying permits online, but that doesn’t work; instead, you need to buy permits in person.) I bought my permit (currently $10) from the Carrizo Store, at the junction of highways 60 and 73.

After buying my permit, I continued driving along highway 73, then turned North onto Roundtop Road, which started out paved, but quickly turned to dirt.

Satellite imagery helped me immensely in finding waypoints to navigate the maze of dirt roads in this area. I first navigated to a junction at [33.973631,-109.972568]:, then continued Northeast to [33.977772,-109.969375] (2.33 miles from the point), where I parked. I then unpacked my mountain bike, and rode it the rest of the way.

At [33.993549,-109.981977] (1.13 miles from the point), I turned North (right). I continued along this road until [34.002857,-109.995608] (0.32 miles from the point), where I turned West (left) onto a much narrower dirt road (covered by some fallen trees). This final dirt road passed just 280 feet East of the point. I stashed my bike there, and walked the rest of the way to reach the point, which lies under a small tree, next to a rock-strewn clearing. (My total mountain bike ride was 4.5 miles, each way.)

Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
