This narrative continues from 19S 41W attempt.

After spending the night at Nova Venécia city, Espírito Santo state, I resumed the trip in the morning of January 27. I crossed the line between Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais states, passed by Nanuque city, and then I crossed other interstate line, entering in Bahia state, arriving at Argolo village, where the dirt road leg, 13 kilometers long, starts.

The dirt road was in good condition, although there were huge puddles, as shown in published photos. When I arrived at each of these puddles, I correctly considered that, as it hadn’t any mud, the soil was steady and I could cross it without any risk of bogging.

When I was 4.5 kilometers to the confluence, however, the condition of the road had deteriorated and I found other big puddle with much mud, and I considered that it would not be prudent to try to cross it with the car. Then, I decided to hike the remaining distance.

I hiked by a road up to 950 meters to the exact point, where, according to satellite photos, there was an open area, bordered by a track. When I arrived there, however, the area was totally covered by a forest, but I realized that the track that I had seen in the photo still exists, although it was hidden in a corridor of bush. I followed this corridor, sometimes denser, sometimes opener, but undoubtedly it was the remaining of the track shown in satellite photo, and that would headed up to 110 meters to the exact point.

When I was hiking in this track, the rain started and, without alternative, I went ahead. I arrived soaked at the place of the track nearest to the exact point. I entered at the forest, hiked some more meters, and registered the visit 81 meters to the confluence.

The rain stopped when I was returning by the track. Then, I hiked all the way back to the car with very wet clothes. When I arrived at the car, as my luggage was there, I changed the sockets, the shirt and the pants.

I made all the way back up to Nanuque, stopping in the highway to take a snack, replacing the lunch. I travelled up to Teófilo Otoni city, where I spend the night, staying at the same hotel of the trip that I had made in January 2020, three years ago, as I cited in 17S 42W and 18S 41W narratives. I travelled in this day by about 380 kilometers.

In the following day, Saturday, I started early the last day of the trip. I passed by Minas Novas and Turmalina cities in order to take some photos. At Minas Novas, I took a snack, replacing the lunch. I arrived at Montes Claros city at 17:00, after traveling by about 550 kilometers.

Concluded the vacations trip, I registered a total of 3,222 kilometers driven in seven days, not considering a day in that I didn’t drive. I had managed to visit three new confluences out of four planned, a better mark than expected, considering the extremely rainy period that I had faced. I registered two new confluences at Rio de Janeiro state, where I had had only one successful visit, the 22S 41W one, registered in December 2015. The other visited confluence in the current trip, at Bahia state, consolidates this state as the third one with the bigger amount of visits, totalizing 14, only after Minas Gerais and São Paulo states.
