19-Jul-2018 -- 3-Konfluenze-Tag, Teil 1: Kurative Konfluenz

Unter den Gipfeln des Goldenes Altei: Über den Altyn-Köl in Westsibirien (Russland) und auf der sagenumwobenen österreichischen Straße in Ost-Kasachstan zurück ins Tian Shan Gebirge erhaschen wir in Kirgistan einen Blick auf den majestätischen Khan Tegri. Dies ist die Fortsetzung von 52°N 87°E.

Kurz vor Aktash streikt der Motor des Toyo plötzlich. Dieselfiltertausch und Ansaugtest helfen nicht weiter. Manchmal gibt es doch Wackelkontakte am Diesel-Motor: Das kurze Rumzicken beim Abholen des Toyo waren Vorboten. Jetzt ist das Kabel am Abschaltventil gebrochen. Der kleine Schmiermaxe muss im Regen seine Lötkünste vorführen bevor es mit vierstündiger Verspätung weiter geht.

Ein Abstecher in die Mongolei und dann geschwind zurück über den hervorragend ausgebauten Tschujatrakt. Überall werden neue Feriensiedlungen gebaut. Wir flüchten in ländlichere Gegenden: Nach Überquerung der Katun bei Marima ändert sich Landschaftsbild abrupt. In der weiten Steppe des Westsibirischen Tieflands stehen Birkenbaumreihen als Windbrecher zwischen Riesenfeldern. Auf einen Feldweg kauern wir uns mit dem Toyo für eine Nacht dahinter.

Anstatt einen Hauptstraßen-Bogen über Barnaul zu schlagen nehmen wir die Abkürzung durch die Bijsker Ebene entlang einer vielversprechenden Reihe von Konfluenzen. Wie viele werden wir an einem Tag schaffen? Auf Nebenstraßen geht es schnurgeradeaus von einer zur nächsten. Die erste Konfluenz liegt auf dem Grundstück einer kleinen Kate im Thermal- und Luftkurort Belokurikha. Genau genommen mussten wir nur zweimal links abbiegen um zuerst in die Stadt und dann die Jahrestag-Straße (Yubileynaya ulitsa) zu gelangen.

Die hiesige Apothekendichte wird genutzt um die Arzneimittelvorräte aufzufüllen. Den Skilift entdecken wir leider erst zuhause auf Wikimapia.

19-Jul-2018 -- 3 confluence day - part 1: curative confluence

Along the peaks of the Golden Altei - across Altyn-Köl (Western Siberia - Russia) and along the legendary Austrian Road in East Kazakhstan we return to the Tian Shan Mountains of Kyrgyzstan to catch a glimpse of the majestic Khan Tegri. This continues the story of 52°N 87°E

Just before Aktash, the Toyo's engine suddenly stops. Diesel filter replacement and intake test doesn’t help. Yes, sometimes a diesel engine got electric problems: The short twitching when picking up the Toyo was a first sign. Now the cable at the shut-off valve is broken. The navigator has to demonstrate her soldering skills in the rain before continuing with a four-hour delay.

A short detour to Mongolia and then quickly return by the excellent tarmac on Chuysky Trakt. New holiday settlements are built everywhere. We flee to more rural areas: after crossing Katun river near Marima the landscape changes abruptly. In wide steppe of West Siberian lowlands rows of birch trees function as windbreakers on giant fields. We hide behind for the night stay on a dirt road.

Instead of driving the main street loop to Barnaul we take a shortcut across the Biysk plain along a promising series of confluences. How many we can reach within one day? Secondary roads take us directly from one to the next. The first one lies on the property of a cottage in the thermal and climatic spa town Belokurikha. We only had to turn left twice - first to get into town and second to reach anniversary street (Yubileynaya ulitsa).

As the local pharmacy density is high, we tried to refill our drug stocks. Unfortunately the ski lift we discover at home as we took a look on Wikimapia.
