(visited by Jim Roberts and Neil Dayson)

24-Sep-2017 -- This point was only 42 km in a straight line to the Southeast of the camp we were living in and had been a target to visit for a while. One afternoon we left the camp area at around 13.30 to go and look for some missing equipment with the aim of passing by the confluence point on the way.

After driving southwest on the blacktop road running by the al-Jubayl–Riyāḍ water pipeline for around 35 km, we headed east cross-country towards the point. The terrain consisted of rolling gravel plains with sand sheet areas and small rocky bluffs. Other than a small Bedu camp close to the blacktop road we saw no one else for the whole afternoon.

Searching and finding the equipment we were looking for, we headed off to the final destination, arriving just before 16.00 at the confluence point, situated in a pretty desolate flat spot. Evidence of camels and desert lizards could be seen, although we did not actually see the animals themselves.

Taking the photos to prove the site visit, we enjoyed the falling sunset glow for a few minutes before heading off in the general direction of the road and finally the camp.

Coordinator's Note: This visit is marked as incomplete as it doesn't meet our photo requirements.
