#1: Panoramic view from the top of the levee (CP on the extreme right)

(visited by Philippe Burtin and Antonella Burtin)

11-Oct-2014 -- I spent a few days in New Orleans attending the ASA annual meeting (asa.org) for a presentation of the results of our team. As usual during these professional trips I saved 2 days for some touristic activity and this was a perfect occasion to visit N30 W90 and N30 W91.

N30 W90 is the closest CP from New Orleans. It is located close to the eastern city limit, on the Mississipi river bank just on the foot of the levee. It is easy to reach with a car. We made an early start and we were on site around 9:30 AM. The panoramic picture was shot from the top of the levee looking west and the city of New Orleans can be seen in the far distance. On that picture, the CP is marked by a white paper sheet on the extreme right of the picture. Not much to see in the immediate vicinity of the CP. We couldn’t find any residual evidence of the rubble and wrecked cars described by Alan Fox in his 2011 report.
