23-Jun-2013 -- On 23 June we went for a day trip to CP 60N 17E, ca. 60 km south of our holiday accommodation. Our way lead us through the Färnebofjärden National Park, embracing the lake of the same name and parts of the river Dalälven. From lake Färnebofjärden we followed small country roads, leading south to the lake and village Nordsjö.

East of the lake we parked our car in front of the barriers of a forest track, pointing to the CP in a distance of 900 m. We walked the forest track half the way before turning north on the brink of a reforestation zone. The tree population was not very thick, so a satisfying satellite reception helped us to locate our destination without long-lasting “dances”.

At 5.45 p.m. we peered the big rock where we caught the zeroes on our GPS receiver. Underneath the stone, covered by some branches of a pine tree, we found the hidden geocache of some of our predecessors. Then followed the well-rehearsed second part of our confluence-hunt: We took the photos, stored the GPS receiver, and sure-footed our Confluence-Goldie “Mia” lead us back to the forest track.

On the way back to our accommodation we passed the youngest formation on the “Scandinavian Whisky Trail“, the Gammelstilla Distillery on the northern shoreline of lake Nedre Dammen (ca. 50 km north of 60N 17E). They started distilling in 2012, so there was no “drum” for a tasting yet. But during the summer you'll find an excellent “Dagens” in the associated restaurant – that might give some comfort for the still missing gold of oaken casks.
