(visited by Shawn Fleming)

05-Jun-2012 -- This would be the fifth of a dozen successful visits on a clockwise loop east of Colorado Springs continuing from 39N 100W and would be the second of seven on this day.

Joseph Kerski had visited this point as the sixth confluence of his seven confluence dash in June 2007. His travels had been counterclockwise and, for the rest of the day, I would be reversing some of his footprints and tire tracks.

In September 2004 Sam Gallucci and I had visited six confluences in 24 hours starting at 38N 118W.

I parked about 150 meters away from this point and hiked out through taller green grass. I found the confluence just before a SW-NE drainage in tall green grass. On my approach from the south, I saw dozens of oil wells pumping away. I could hear one of these wells across the road from where I was over the sound of crickets.

Zeroing out this point was completed with a minimal confluence dance. I quickly started recording data, sent my Spot message, and took my pictures.

Picture #6 shows a TerraSync screen shot on the left captured at the confluence and the resulting Pathfinder Office post processed GPS data on the right.

It had been 5 years since the last recorded visit here. Next stop: 39N 98W!
