15-Oct-2011 -- One of THREE degree confluence visits as part of a day full of travel, sampling the local cuisine, geocaching and degree confluence hunting (which was of course the most satisfying part of the day).

I visited this confluence early in the morning just after leaving our hotel in nearby Somerset, PA. We were heading to the highest point in Pennsylvania, Mount Davis (elevation 3213 ft.) which is south of this confluence point. The confluence point itself is located just north of route 1001 and less than a mile north of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. There is plenty of space to pull a car off to the side of Route 1001 for easy access to the confluence point which is located in the middle of a grassy field on a slight slope facing south.

I ran up the hill to find the zeroes and stopped to take some photos and pose for a signature confluence phoon. From the confluence point you can view the Pennsylvania Turnpike (the main toll road through southern Pennsylvania). There are also large windmills located south of the confluence point which were visible in the overcast morning sun.
