02-Jun-2011 -- With beautiful sunshine we started at 10:00 a.m. from Cesis (Latvia) in northern direction to a day trip to Estonia. We explored the countryside on the small roads, and from Mazsalaca we took the abandoned gravel road that brought us close to 58N 25E, not far from the Estonian border. On a gateway to a forest track we found some shadowy space for the car.

The forest track led to the west and after 600 m we followed an old and overgrown ditch another 300 m south in direction to the CP. Now we had to turn into the light pine-wood and to make our way over carpets of moss. We moved pretty fast, and the incoherent treetops and numerous forest glades provided a satisfactory satellite reception. Around 12:30 the zeroes on the display announced our arrival, and one photo of our target shows the forest-situation for all directions.

At 1:00 p.m. we continued our trip to Estonia and only 1 km behind our shady parking space we reached the border between these two Baltic Republics. Another 20 km our bumpy ride was accompanied by stork’s nests, before some proper paved roads brought us to Pärnu, the “Summer Residence” of the Estonians.
