Vejamos caso a caso:

- confluência 21S 45W: realizei uma tentativa em dezembro de 2008, mas desisti porque a estrada de terra estava intransitável em função das chuvas. Embora não fosse difícil percorrer o restante do caminho a pé, preferi não tentar, visto que logo eu teria outra oportunidade de visitar o ponto. E, de fato, eu visitei a confluência dois meses depois, com a estrada em condições muito melhores;

- confluência 19S 43W: realizei uma tentativa em fevereiro de 2009, mas não consegui alcançar o ponto por duas razões. Um desmoronamento na estrada, causado pelas chuvas, me impediram de chegar de carro a menos de dois quilômetros do ponto. Tentei prosseguir a pé, mas a presença de uma grande quantidade de gado no caminho impediu o êxito. Três meses depois realizei uma nova tentativa, a estrada já estava consertada e consegui realizar a visita sem dificuldades;

- confluência 19S 46W: realizei uma tentativa em março de 2009, como a sexta e última etapa de uma longa sequência de cinco visitas bem-sucedidas. Desisti porque já era tarde para fazer a caminhada, pelo cansaço da viagem e da quantidade de visitas já feitas. O ponto foi visitado com sucesso onze meses depois;

- confluência 20S 43W: realizei uma tentativa em março de 2009, e não encontrei o caminho, por falta de fotos de alta resolução do local e pelas más condições das estradas. Entretanto, as buscas feitas nessa primeira tentativa e as conversas com moradores locais já deram uma boa pista do melhor caminho a seguir. Na segunda tentativa, realizada um mês depois, a experiência adquirida na tentativa anterior permitiu que o ponto fosse alcançado;

- confluência 18S 45W: realizei a primeira tentativa em abril de 2009, e não encontrei o ponto, por causa do labirinto de estradas de terra presentes no local, e também por estradas em mau estado devido às chuvas. Um ano depois, em abril de 2010, realizei nova tentativa. Desta vez, as fotos de satélite do Google Earth, com resolução muito melhor, permitiram definir um traçado preciso até o ponto. No entanto, as estradas estavam muito piores que no ano anterior, e isso impossibilitou a visita. Ainda não tive oportunidade de fazer uma terceira tentativa;

- confluência 22S 44W: em junho de 2009 eu não cheguei a tentar visitar essa confluência, houve apenas a intenção de fazê-lo. O plano era visitar duas confluências no mesmo dia: a 22S43W e a 22S44W. No entanto, a primeira visita demorou mais que o esperado, e quando eu passei pelo ponto da rodovia mais próximo da segunda confluência, já era noite e eu nem saí do asfalto. Sete meses depois eu fiz uma segunda tentativa e consegui visitar o ponto;

- confluência 23S 46W: em novembro de 2010, eu tentei visitar essa confluência, mas não consegui chegar a menos de 300 metros do ponto exato, visto que o ponto localiza-se em uma área de floresta de eucalipto extremamente densa. Ainda não houve uma nova tentativa;

15-May-2011-- This is a narrative of an incomplete visit, but not an unsuccessful visit. It is incomplete, because I didn’t go up to 100 meters close to the exact point, as needed according to the DCP rule. In fact, I went very far of this goal. The better approximation was 19.1 kilometers close to the exact point. But, on the other hand, it isn’t an unsuccessful visit, because I hadn’t any intention of reach the exact point. My objective was only to register an incomplete visit.

The 24S 46W confluence lies in the open sea, very distant of the coast line. The closest point in the continent is Pernambuco beach, located in Guarujá city, São Paulo state. From this point, it’s necessary to rent a ship and travel 19.1 kilometers offshore.

This is the first time that I register an incomplete visit. But it doesn’t mean that all my previous attempts were successful. My previous unsuccessful attempts were not registered because I think it’s useless to register an incomplete visit to a point that had already a previous complete visit. For the current point, 24S 46W, on the other hand, it’s useful to register an attempt, because it was never visited before.

As I didn’t register any of my previous unsuccessful attempts, this is a good opportunity to do it, remembering my 36 previous visits. From these 36 ones, 31 were visited in their first attempt. In the 5 remaining I needed to try more than once. And also, there are 3 confluences already attempted and never successfully visited. Below a list of these cases:

- confluence 21S 45W: I made an attempt in December 2008, but gave up because the dirt road was in very bad conditions, due to rain. Although it would be easy to hike up to the point, I didn’t do it, because I would have the opportunity to try again soon. Really, I successfully visited the confluence two months later;

- confluence 19S 43W: I made an attempt in February 2009, but I didn’t reach the point due to two reasons. A landslide in the road, caused by rain, stopped the car two kilometers to the point. Then, I tried to hike, but the amount of cattle in the road stopped me. Three months later, I made another attempt. At this time, the road was free again and I reached the point easily;

- confluence 19S 46W: I made an attempt in March 2009, as the sixth out of six confluence visits in only one trip. After five successful visits, the last one was not, due to tiredness of the trip and of the amount of already visited points. The confluence was successfully visited eleven months later;

- confluence 20S 43W: I made an attempt in March 2009, but I didn’t find the correct way, due to lack of high-resolution photos and bad conditions of the roads. But, although unsuccessful, the first attempt was an useful one, due to I tried many roads, talked to local people and got important information about the correct way. In the second attempt, one month later, I used the experience obtained in the previous one and reached the point;

- confluence 18S 45W: I made the first attempt in April 2009, but didn’t reach the point, due to the maze of dirt roads that exists in confluence area, and to the bad conditions of dirt roads. One year later, in April 2010, I made another attempt. At this time, I had high-resolution photos by Google Earth, and a precise path up to the point. However, the road was much worse than in the previous attempt, and then I didn’t reach the point again. I haven’t done another try yet;

- confluence 22S 44W: in June 2009 I didn’t really attempt it. I only intended to do it. My plan was to visit two confluences in only one day: 22S 43W and 22S 44W. However, the first visit lasted more time than expected and, when I passed by the closest point of second confluence, on the highway, the night had already fallen. Seven months later, I made a second try and successfully visited it;

- confluence 23S 46W: in November 2010, I tried to visit this confluence, but didn’t go more than 300 meters close to the exact point, due to the point lies in a very dense eucalyptus forest. I didn’t make another attempt yet;

- confluence 22S 51W: in April 2011, I planned to visit this confluence, but I didn’t get it due to lack of time. This would be the forth confluence visit in only one day, but the day was not long-lasting enough. I didn’t make other attempt yet.

Back to the current confluence. On Friday morning, 13 May, I traveled with my family to Santos and Guarujá beaches, in São Paulo state coast. On Sunday 15th, I went to Pernambuco beach, in Guarujá city, and registered the closest point, 19.2 kilometers to the confluence. If the next visitor hasn’t his own ship, he must rent a fisherman’s ship. The round trip in a small ship last about four hours and costs about R$ 300.00 (about US$ 185). There is a fishermen’s village after Pernambuco beach, in the edge of Guarujá – Bertioga highway, where it is easy to find someone available to make the trip.
