07-May-2010 --

07-May-2010 --

We left about 08 hs. on Friday 7, May, 2010. We had some data we thought we confirm at this short trip of 186 kms. from Esquel to Gobernador Costa, Chubut. Of course we were prepared just in case we could perform the confluence 44° S 71° W, which we successfully did. Who gave us the requisite indispensable indications was Mr. Ernest Schubert, from "Cabaña Cristina", who we thank for his kindness.

From Route 40, 15 kms. to the north of Gobernador Costa, we took route 19 (under construction), which leads to the town of Río Pico. Moving along that route for only 5 kms., we continued by internal roads to the closest point to our destination, surrounded by the beautiful hills of the valley of the Putrachoique stream.

We left the truck at about 24 kms. from were we left Route 40, crossed the fence and began the climb by among shrubby vegetation typical of the Patagonian plateau, up to 930 meters high. At the exact point, that we reached at 14.50 pm., we left our visit card protected in a bottle. Patagonia before our never sufficiently astonished eyes looked as vast and mysterious as ever.

Coordinator's Note: DCP encourage all visitors to not alter the confluence area and to not leave things that do not belong to the site.
