(visited by Angus Rolle, Lisa Rolle and Mark Rolle)

25-Feb-2008 -- We visited this confluence point during a delivery flight of an R44 helicopter from Brisbane, QLD to Victoria River Downs Station in the NT.On the same trip we also visited or passed by 18S-138E, 18S-139E ,18-141, 19S-141E, 22S-142E, 26S-144E and 26S-146E. We made a detour via the Gulf of Carpentaria to go Heli-fishing for Barramundi - truely a fantastic journey.

The confluence point was en route between two fuelling stops - Brunette Downs and Newcastle Waters - perhaps 2 of the better known cattle stations in the Northern Territory. From the air it was clear that Brunette Downs was suffering from a lack of rain - virtually a dustbowl - yet all around was green.

This confluence point was probably the easiest one we did as it was very easy terrain to land on and no trees. As it was the end of the wet season, everything was fantastically green. The Barkey tablelands is a vast flat area primarily used for cattle grazing. It is in a very remote area as much of Australia is - very appropriately named "the outback" The confluence point itself is virtually right on the Barkley stock route - between Eva Downs and Anthony Lagoon - so should be easy to get to by road - albeit approximately 200 km from the nearest bitumen.
